Bio
Irish-American Sticky Mulligan is a singer, a dancer, a drummer, and a banjo player, but his first instrument was his grandfather’s Hammond organ. As a child he would sit in front of that organ all day long, even when it was turned off, and dream up melodies that he still sings to this day. He was influenced by the sound of his mother’s first lullaby, to the way his father harmonized.
In middle school he was kicked out of all his classes for playing beats on his desk while the teachers were handing out tests. That same year he won the award for best soloist in the county honors band.
Upon travelling with his tenor banjo to the Meditteranean Sea in 2003, he found himself immersed in the sounds of Spain, Africa, and Ireland. “It was pure joy to be in this mystical land hearing these incredible melodies and rhythms”. Travelling extensively through the United States also influenced the unique style and sound that Sticky Mulligan was developing. Time spent in California, The Rocky Mountains, and the Appalachian Mountains all became a part of the debut album “Showtime” that was to come in November of 2009. A mix of Soul, Funk, Folk and World beat. http://www.cdbaby.com/stickymulligan
Sticky Mulligan has played in jazz and world music ensembles on the east coast, bluegrass bands in North Carolina, and funk bands in the Fillmore districts of the west coast. He has studied with some of the finest jazz instructors on the east coast including Steve Abshire, Mark Cook, Jon Jensen and David Alderdice. He has a love for all types of music, and has a gift for uplifting people with his love for humanity and his love for improvisation.

I can attest to the fact that he was reprimanded by every single teacher that he had in middle school and high school. Heads bobbed throughout every spanish and english classes while sticky would sit in the back and play beats with pencils on desks and chairs.
